How I Made $10,000,000 Online Through SEO and Internet Marketing
Today, I’m going to share with you my 15-year journey of making money online.
I wasn’t a particularly successful student in school, but I’ve loved computers since childhood. During high school, I started creating digital music, beats, flash games, and animations using software I taught myself. I shared them with my friends. While these creative skills helped form a foundation for me, you don’t actually need such extras to make money online. I just want to tell my story to inspire you—and share a few extra tips along the way.
Eventually, high school ended. I had no job. I had no money. The year was 2011, and I was 18. One day, while sitting around, I discovered affiliate marketing. ClickBank is one of the world’s largest affiliate and digital product networks. All you have to do is click the “Promote” button on a product and start marketing it using your own affiliate ID. When someone makes a purchase, you earn a commission.
So how did I market those products? I started by purchasing a .com domain and hosting, and I launched my first website. I promoted some products from ClickBank. But then I realized I needed to work on getting my site to rank on Google. Although I shared my website links on various platforms and social media, I needed to attract a relevant, targeted audience from Google.
That’s when I discovered what people call Google SEO—Search Engine Optimization. I built my website as a WordPress blog. I wrote articles and created content for each product, adding relevant images, H1, H2, H3 titles, and the affiliate links. The site was ready. Instead of focusing on the homepage, I started doing SEO for the subpages with the actual products.
I created backlinks—links from other sites pointing to mine. I shared my site’s URLs on social bookmarking sites, ping services, forum profiles, blog comments, and in content on Web 2.0 micro-sites. My sites started to rank fast. Thousands of visitors came in, clicked on my affiliate links, made purchases, and I earned money. I received my first commissions and a check arrived from the company. I had gotten my first payment—I was so happy.
For years, I marketed products this way, made sales, and earned commissions. The system worked like this:
- For example, users would search “how to lose weight” on Google, and one of my articles would show up on the first page. They’d click it and visit my website.
- After reading my post about how to lose weight, they would be convinced to click the affiliate link to a product (like an e-book). They’d be redirected to the official sales page, and once they made a purchase via PayPal or credit card, the money would start accumulating in my ClickBank account.
- Once I passed a certain threshold, I could receive the money as a check or direct transfer to my bank. ClickBank allows you to set that payment threshold yourself.
Later on, while managing my sites, social media marketing, and SEO, I became fascinated by the automation tools and bots I used. I wanted to develop my own versions, so I started learning programming.
I taught myself HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, PHP, and C#. Then I began building my own projects—Twitter marketing software, Instagram tools, SEO utilities—and launched my own websites and products, which I marketed and sold.
So, my online income journey went in this order: affiliate marketing → building websites and landing pages → SEO → social media marketing → email marketing → and eventually developing and selling marketing software.
And now it’s 2025. We’re living in an era defined by artificial intelligence. You can create code, visuals, content—whatever you want—with AI. If I could do all this back in the day with so few resources, just imagine what you can achieve in this new world of cloud-based AI technology. Believe in yourself and go for it!
